What's Included
- Burner tube inspection, cleaning, and replacement
- Electronic ignition and spark electrode repair
- Gas valve and regulator testing
- Infrared sear burner servicing
- Grill grate and flame tamer assessment
- Natural gas and propane system inspection
Viking outdoor grills are engineered for high-output performance — high-BTU stainless burners, infrared sear stations, and robust cast construction that withstands years of outdoor use. Over time, burner tubes corrode, ignition electrodes degrade, and gas valves develop sluggish operation. Our Viking grill repair service addresses these issues properly, restoring the even-heat performance and reliable ignition that Viking grills are built to deliver.
Common Viking Grill Problems
- Burner not igniting: Usually caused by a degraded spark electrode, a failed ignition module, moisture in the ignition circuit, or corroded burner ports that prevent gas flow to the ignition point.
- Weak or uneven flame: Often caused by partially blocked burner ports clogged with grease residue or debris, a partially open gas valve, or a regulator that has tripped into safety-bypass mode.
- Gas valve difficult to turn or stuck: Valves seize from grease ingress or corrosion on outdoor units exposed to weather. Forcing a stuck valve can crack the valve body — a technician visit is the right approach.
- Infrared sear burner not working: Viking's infrared burners use a ceramic tile surface that can crack or become blocked. Cracked tiles need replacement; blockage is cleared during servicing.
- Grill not reaching high temperatures: Can indicate a failing burner tube, a blocked gas orifice, or a regulator issue. Also check that the propane tank is not in vapour-lock from being overfilled.
- Side burner faults: Side burners on Viking grill carts are independently valved and can develop the same ignition and valve faults as the main burners.
Natural Gas vs. Propane Grills
Viking grills are available in both natural gas (NG) and liquid propane (LP) configurations. The orifice sizing and regulator type differ between the two. If your grill has ever been converted between fuel types, verify the conversion was completed correctly — an NG orifice on an LP supply will produce an excessively large flame, and an LP orifice on NG will produce a weak, yellow flame. Our technicians verify fuel type and orifice configuration as part of every service visit.
Seasonal Maintenance
Viking grills benefit significantly from end-of-season and start-of-season servicing. At the start of the grilling season: clean burner ports, inspect burner tubes for corrosion or spider nests (a common ignition blocker), check gas connections for leaks, and verify ignition on all burners. At the end of the season: deep-clean grates and flame tamers, cover the unit, and shut off the gas supply at the source.
Repair Cost Range
Viking grill repairs typically range from $200. Ignition module and electrode replacement runs from $100; burner tube replacement $180 per burner; gas valve replacement $200. Built-in grill service may carry a slightly higher labour cost due to access requirements within an outdoor kitchen surround.
Transparent Pricing
The final cost of your repair will be confirmed after our technician completes a thorough on-site diagnosis. We provide a clear, written estimate before any work begins — no hidden fees, no surprises. You only pay if you approve the repair.
