Recall Overview
This is an official product recall. Viking Range, LLC, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling select Viking gas range models equipped with a specific batch of surface igniter modules. A firmware and hardware defect in the affected igniter control boards may cause the igniter to spark continuously — even when all burner control knobs are in the fully OFF position — presenting a risk of unintended ignition, electrical arcing, and fire.
Affected Viking Gas Range Models
This recall applies to Viking Professional 7 Series and Viking 5 Series 36-inch and 48-inch freestanding and pro-style gas ranges with the following model prefixes manufactured between October 2021 and April 2024:
- VGR7486 series (all suffix variants, 48-inch)
- VGR7366 series (all suffix variants, 36-inch)
- VGR5486 series (all suffix variants, 48-inch)

Risk Level
Urgency: CRITICAL — STOP USE IMMEDIATELY if continuous sparking is observed. Continuous sparking near gas burners or grease residue significantly increases the risk of uncontrolled ignition and fire.
Symptoms
- Audible clicking or sparking sounds when all burner knobs are in the OFF position
- Visible sparking at one or more burner igniters without any knob turned
- Igniter clicking that does not stop after a burner is turned off
- Intermittent sparking at random intervals during the day or night
Required Actions
- Stop using the range immediately if you are experiencing continuous sparking.
- Turn off the gas supply valve behind the range as a precautionary measure.
- Contact Viking Appliance Customer Support at 1-888-VIKING-1 to initiate your recall service appointment. Recall repairs are provided at no cost to the consumer.
- A Viking-authorized technician will replace the igniter control module with a corrected assembly. The repair takes approximately 1 hour and does not require extended downtime.
- Do not attempt to disable the igniter yourself — this can introduce additional hazards and does not address the root cause.
Viking Range, LLC is directly contacting registered owners of affected units. If you have not received a recall notification and believe your unit is affected, contact us at 1-888-VIKING-1 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, or visit vikingrange.com/recall for full details.
