Recall Summary
Viking has identified a potential issue with the gas supply manifold on select Professional Series gas cooktops. A manufacturing defect in the brass manifold fitting may develop a micro-crack over time, potentially allowing a small gas leak at the connection point. The leak may not be immediately detectable by smell in well-ventilated kitchens.
Affected Models
- Viking Professional 5 Series: VGSU5366BSS, VGSU5304BSS
- Viking Professional 7 Series: VGSU7366BSS
- Production dates: March 2021 through December 2022
- Serial numbers: Printed on the rating plate beneath the cooktop surface
Risk Level: CRITICAL
Gas leaks present a serious fire and explosion risk. Even a small leak can accumulate gas in enclosed cabinet spaces beneath the cooktop. If you smell gas near your cooktop at any time, turn off the gas supply immediately, ventilate the area, and do not operate any electrical switches.
Recommended Action
- Check your cooktop model number and serial number immediately
- If your unit is in the affected range, stop using the cooktop and turn off the gas supply valve
- Contact Viking authorized service for a free inspection and manifold fitting replacement
- Do not attempt to inspect or repair the gas manifold yourself
How to Check for a Leak
Apply a soapy water solution to the manifold connections while the gas is on. Bubbles indicate a leak. However, micro-cracks may only leak under thermal stress (during cooking), so the absence of bubbles when cold does not guarantee safety. Professional inspection is required.
